Adding Objects to Your Page
Updated over a week ago

In Play, you can add native elements, basic elements, and components to your project.

Your current selection will determine the new object’s insertion point. If you have a stack or page selected, the new object will be inserted as a child of that stack or page. If you have a non-container element selected, the new object will be inserted as a sibling of that element.

In Play for macOS, the new object can also be dragged to any position on the canvas.

The Add Bar in macOS

In macOS, insert items using the bar in the bottom center of your screen. You can add an object to your page by clicking on it and then on the canvas, dragging it onto the canvas, or using a keyboard shortcut. There are six icons that open the following menus:

  • All Elements: all available elements, including basic elements, native iOS controls, native iOS pickers, buttons, charts, gauges, map, web view, and camera. Use the keyboard shortcut “A” to open.

  • Stack: add a stack to your page using this button or the shortcuts “S” or "F"

  • Text: add a text element to your page using this button or the shortcut “T”

  • Image: add an image to your page using this button or the shortcut “I”

  • SF Symbol: add an SF symbol to your page using this button or the shortcut “B”

  • Library: all components, assets, and fonts in your project. Use the keyboard shortcut “K” to open

The Add List in iOS

In iOS, insert objects by swiping left from the right side of your screen. You can add an object to your page by tapping on it. There are two tabs, one for all elements and one for your project's components.
